The Umee Umbrella Stage will be a feature at this years Wharfest. Set on the foreshore of the sparkling waters of the Upper Spencer Gulf the Umee Umbrella stage will showcase great local acts and performances, coordinated and hosted by Umeewarra Aboriginal Media. Umeewarra Radio 89.1fm has been rocking the airwaves of the north region for over 30 years and we look forward to broadcasting live from the annual Wharfest. The Umee Umbrella Stage will deliver entertainment from the get go – hosting some fantastic First Nations music artists and MC’s to entertain the community. The MC’s will be Umeewarra Media’s broadcasters Samantha Lee, Dre Ngatokorua and our CEO Vince Coulthard who will take you through all the excitement and fun of a day by the water at Wharfest.
Umeewarra Aboriginal Media 89.1fm is based in Port Augusta and was setup in 1987. Since that time Umeewarra Media has grown into the modern digital media centre that we have today. We have an Aboriginal Board of Management that ensures we have community ownership of our programming. Umeewarra Media promotes the importance and relevance of Aboriginal cultures in today’s society. We promote the important role Aboriginal people play in this region & discuss the issues they face in today’s society. We promote true reconciliation through sharing cultural information and breaking down the barriers. Umeewarra Media does more than just radio
